Immunization Survey Summary

                                                             

1.                  Which states had the highest participation in the Immunization BPIP survey based on number of state agencies participating in the HHQI campaign?

            New Hampshire, Oregon, Missouri and Vermont

2.                  Which states had 20 or more agencies participate in the Immunization BPIP survey?

            Texas, Florida, Missouri, and Ohio

3.                  How many of the home health agencies participating in the survey assess the patient for both influenza and pneumococcal immunization status?

            91 percent (362 out of 396 HHAs)

4.                  What barriers did the home health agencies participating in the survey identify with implementing an immunization program?

            45 percent - Difficulty in obtaining the vaccine*

            22 percent - Obtaining staff buy-in for patient immunizations

            22 percent - Obtaining staff buy-in for staff immunizations

            9 percent - Restrictions in their state on transporting the vaccine

            *Several comments from agencies that there was difficulty obtaining the vaccine two years ago, but not currently.

5.                  How many of the agencies who participated in the survey provide influenza immunization to their staff or reimburse if staff receive the immunization elsewhere?

            80 percent

6.                  What resources from the Immunization BPIP did the agencies participating in the survey say they were planning to utilize?

            59 percent - Influenza and Pneumococcal Immunization Patient Plan

            57 percent - Patient/Staff Immunization Tracking Record

            55 percent - Monthly Best Practice Poster

            54 percent - Influenza/Pneumococcal Immunization Physician Notification Form
