CMS releases Home Health Agency Conditions of Participation (CoPs)

2/15/2017
The final rule surrounding home health Conditions of Participation (CoP) from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) was published in the Federal Register January 13, 2017.

The regulation reflects the most current home health agency practices by focusing on the care provided to patients and the impact of that care on patient outcomes. CMS has issued regulations that provide a greater focus on communications and care coordination, person-centered care and quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI).

Home health agencies (HHAs) must meet the Medicare HH CoPs in order to participate in the Medicare program. Agencies that fail to meet any of the HH CoPs are at risk for sanctions and potentially at risk for program termination. A full copy of the announcement and revisions is available on the CMS Website.
