Continuing Education FAQs

HHQI University is pleased to provide free continuing education credits (CEs) for many of its educational courses. Below are some basic information related to specific disciplines. 
 
Nursing: CEs are provided by Alabama State Nurses Association who is an accredited approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). Almost all states accept ANCC approved CEs. Check with your state board of nursing.
 
Physical Therapy: Only education courses that specifically states physical therapy continuing education are available are approved. The Federation of State Board of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) is the provider for Continuing Competence Units (CCUs).  A listing on ProCERT's website details which states accept CCUs from this organization. Remember that many other states will accept these certificates even if not on the list; you will need to check with your own state board for physical therapy. Each state has individual requirements. Some states may allow CEs from other certification organizations such as American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) or a certificate for attending an education session. Please check your state requirements.
 
Occupational Therapy & Speech Language Pathology: State and national organization (e.g., AOTA and ASHA) may accept a specific number of CEs from other certification organizations such as American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) or a certificate for attending an education session. Please check your state and national requirements. 
 
Medical Social Workers: Only education courses that specifically states social work continuing education are available are approved by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Currently all states accept NASW CEs except Idaho, Michigan, New Jersey, New York & West Virginia. Check with your state association if accepting CEs from other certification organizations such as American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) or a certificate for attending an education session. 

Home Health Aides: A certificate of completion will be provided for all aides completing courses. 
 
Please note that HHQI will continue to work obtaining CEs for other disciplines when possible.

Q: Will my state accept the HHQI CE certificates towards my state nursing renewal? 
A: Check for your state’s acceptance on the ANCC’s State Boards of Nursing CE Requirements listing. If you are still unsure, check with your state nursing board. 

Q: Can I use the nursing CE certificate in the state of California if there is not a Continuing Education Provider (CEP) number on it?
A: Yes, the California State Board of Nursing has stated that the courses offered in HHQI University which are awarded by Alabama State Nurses Association who is an ANCCE approved provider for CEs.  
 
Q: How do I get my certificate?
A: After you complete a course and the session closes out, your certificate will appear on the left side of your My Account tab. Click the Print button to print or save the certificates as an electronic copy (PDF).
 
Q: What happens if I misplace my copy?
A: Your certificates will remain in the My Account tab.
 
Q: How do I change my email address, password, or other demographic information?
A: Go to the My Account tab; My Profile; and My Account Information and email and password can be changed. Click on the “Other” tab on the left to change organization name, discipline, and state.
 
Q: How do I go back to review a course that I already completed?
A: Go to My Account tab, under the Learning Activities section click on the Completed tab and locate the course.
 
Q: My therapy board will allow the use of the attendance certificate if I have an outline.  Where do I get an outline or other materials needed?
